This extension will soon no longer be supported. An alternative is Youtube Master. It can block channels, hide comments, hide related videos, etc.
I gave you a glowing review back in the day, when things actually worked. So I was so excited to see that you finally updated the extension today. And what I found is - Blocking shorts does "something", but still does not block all shorts. - Blocking users is still a far gone feature. - Hiding watched videos still leaves me a zillion vids I have entirely watched, regardless on how I adjust the slider. Anyway, I understand Youtube keeps changing things constantly, and it´s difficult to keep up, but getting this yesterday´s update was so incredibly disappointing, I felt compelled to write this. I will be updating it back to my previous 5 stars rating as soon as you manage to fix it, of course. Best!
Seconding the comments on Blocktube not working as well as it once did. I'll block a channel and it'll turn up again in my next search. Nevertheless it does work in its own iffy way once you've clicked block channel for the dozenth time. There's no way I'm sticking with Chrome after this and uBlock / AdGuard get removed, Chrome users are made to plump for enough inferior knockoffs of Firefox extensions as it is.
For a long time, BlockTube worked and I loved it. It allowed me to block out obnoxious channels, especially ones of a political nature. But, something changed and it no longer works at blocking channels. It still functions, mostly, at blocking channels with certain words. But channels? No, it is no longer capable of blocking channels or rather it has hidden conditionals on which channels you can block. And that was exactly why I installed the addon, to block entire channels.
The extension doesn't work as expected. I blocked a channel, refreshed the page, and the blocked channel still appeared. I repeated the process several times, but the channel continued to show up. It only stopped appearing after I clicked the "Don't Recommend Channel" button. If you're downloading this extension for features other than the channel blocker, such as the blocked message feature, it’s worth noting that it's a great add-on. However, if you're specifically looking for a reliable channel blocker, I would not recommend this extension.

Blocked Channels are still visible in ANY browser plus Youtube Master does absolutely nothing.

This extension broke and stopped working on Feb 21, 2024.
Not working anymore. Usually, when I chose block video, the video will stop immediately, but for now, its keep playing. Then I reload ytb website, the video haven't been block yet.
Been working on and off for a couple of weeks - as of today, 22nd Feb, not working for any of my accounts. Hope you can get it fixed - this extension is a lifesaver! Please keep up the great work you do.
The blocking channels and videos is finally back using the menu thing again ! It was really super annoying having to copy and paste stuff into two different tabs just to block channels. Edit: Channels that I've blocked using the menu thing, are not staying blocked and will appear again.
I can't block channels using the context menu/three dots icon on the comments section anymore (the option disappeared). It used to work...
It doesn't work since few days ago. Pressing 'Block channel' or 'Block video' button doesn't do anything.
It's a very perfect for blocking out channels you don't care about and videos as well it a good block for the site.
Randomly stopped working, I still have the options to block videos but it does nothing. Reinstalling did not help. Please fix, this extension is a lifesaver with the youtube recommended algorithm going downhill edit: it's working again!
Great concept, but so far when I click 'block channel', the channels do not get blocked and keep appearing in the feed. Hopefully this can be remedied.

for some weird reason, the functions disappeared in this extension, it's a bug I think, hopefully the owner of this extension fix this

2 month update: In the past, I used to watch a lot of prank videos, and anime videos on YouTube. I wanted to get away from watching those types of things. Mostly because the content creators always find a way to make it sexual in some way, shape or form. However, even after I stopped watching those videos, YouTube kept recommending the same YouTube channels to me again and again. And even months after I've already stopped watching those types of things. Eventually, during my weak moments, I would give in and relapse and start watching those types of videos again. Mostly because they were right there in my face as recommended videos. However, after installing BlockTube (On edge browser), I havent watched a single prank video, or anime related video in over 2 months! I have not even had an urge to do so! BlockTube let me block the youtube channels that I wanted to avoid. Along with the auto generated youtube playlist. This solved the problem of youtube recommending me videos that I wanted to get away from! And best of all, now my youtube recommendations are videos that I actually want to watch! Like nature videos, animal documentaries, sustainable agriculture, etc etc. I no longer spend hours watching "Trash" videos on youtube. Im able to watch 1 or 2 "good quality" videos, then call it a day. And move onto other things in my life. This has really been something ive struggled with for 1-2 years now. And it was fixed by just installing this extension. It has put more order and self control in my life. Im very thankful to the person(s) who created this extension.
